i was given my Canon EOS Rebel as a xmas gift back in 2022. i wanted a camera for a few reasons; i've always thought photography in general is cool, especially underwater photography. i also liked the idea of documenting the local wildlife from a scientific angle, and learning more about your animal neighbours in the process, which slotted in perfectly with my other plan of trying to get myself more comfortable with insects other than just moths and beetles.
and it's been a beautiful journey so far, to be perfectly candid! a few years ago i would lament about how all of the 'cool' animals always seemed to exist thousands of miles away from where i lived, with little to zero chance of me ever seeing them in person. but when i actually stopped and looked around me, i realized that there were things here that i would've never imagined. it's been so eye-opening.
all of that being said, here are the best photos i've taken so far, categorized alphabetically by species! you can click on the images to see them at a larger size.
